My 2000 Civic failed my state inspection today because one of the engine mounts are damaged below acceptable levels.

Two questions:

1. since one is gone, should I also replace the other, since they theoretically should wear down at roughly the same rate?

2. Assuming I use OEM parts, is there any benefit to going with the dealer than my local shop (local shop works with Hondas all the time, and is asking less than half the dealer)?

Thanks!

The engine only torques in one direction. Depending on the arangement stretching one and compressing the other. If its alot more I would just do the one but thats just off the top of my head without looking at it.

Replace them and the dog bone (torque arm).  Don't cheap out because eventually (actually pretty soon) you'll have to do the others.

Napa, Autozone, O'reileys, Advance.  They should all have them and their parts will be just as good in this instance.

If you think the independent shop is reputable then by all means go ahead and use them.
