Just a heads up as it is in the national news:  http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/as_japan_toyota_recall

TOKYO – Toyota is recalling 1.53 million Lexus, Avalon and other models, mostly in the U.S. and Japan, for brake fluid and fuel pump problems, the latest in a string of quality problems for the world's No. 1 automaker.

Ah yes, no reputable company has ever had a recall.

I'm sure it's something to do with the QC of a certain batch, and something not because of an engineering fault. If I'm wrong, the poor engineer has already done Seppuku.

I've never owned a Toyota, but my next vehicle may very well be one.  They've done a pretty good job of stepping up and taking care of their cars.  I'm not confident that the domestic automakers would acknowledge a problem and recall the cars in such a proactive manner.  Who knows though, maybe I'm wrong.

I hate to say it but i agree with the above about them stepping up and taking responsibility.... Ford will not rectify the situation with the 2004-2008 F150 5.4 3v motors spark plugs being impossible to remove without breaking them off (bad design 2pc plug just for starters). Instead they acknowledge the problem via TSB instead of RECALL and then pass the cost of removal of said broken plugs on to the consumer!!! I have seen plug changes cost 1200 bucks!

Stepping up, admitting their faults, domestic manufacturers would ignore them, blah, blah, blah.

Complete and total bullshit.

Believe it, if any manufacturer could get away with sweeping problems under the rug, they would.  That includes precious, perfect, God's-gift-to-the-automotive-world Toyota.

The issue with spark plugs on the Fords is not a safety issue. Toyota is recalling on a safety issue. Ford has recalls on most of the vehicles from 83-07 for ignition switches burning up and adding a fuse on cruise control circuits.

I understand that Toyota is doing it on a safety issue, my point is that Ford knows this is an issue and instead of taking responsibility they are content to stick it to the consumer... And people wonder why so many people won't buy American anymore! That said I don't plan on owning another foreign vehicle! Real trucks are made in the USA!
