What in the hell is the part circled in blue. I was told that it is an "air diverter valve." I've called a few places asking for this part and they just pause, laugh, and ask me if I mean EGR valve. My check engine light is on and when I had it checked out they told me that my air diverter valve was bad.  A friend of the family manages a Brakes Plus and hooked me up with this part for free. I replaced it and the light went off... for about two days.  Could there be something else that is causing it to go bad? Like a relay or something?

in the blue is the EGR valve ( i think, hard to tell with the pic).  What is the code # that you are getting?

AIR valve, bypass valve, AIR diverter valve, Secondary AIR injection valve, it goes by a hundred different names.

The part in blue is the AIR diverter valve, the EGR is just to the right and slightly above it.

What was the code? what year mustang? Could be a bad AIR pump.

Had the code pulled at autozone today and it was P0411, which is a defective air pump or hoses blocked. Not sure what the codes were before but last time they told me to check the EGR and PCV valves so I think they were different.

ETA- It is a 2000 3.8L. Not the one in the pic. I found that on the internet.

P0411 codes are "secondary air injection system".
