[ARCHIVED THREAD] - General Tires

Does any one run General tires? I'm looking at the General grabber. It looks like they
stole the tread design from BFG. Just wanted to know if any one knew how they held up.

I've run General M/Ts before on my S10 and they did pretty well.
I'm not sure that they lasted a long time but I didn't run BFG's to compare at the time so I don't know.

Ran General Grabbers on my F-350. They didn't last near as long as I would like as the tread wore pretty fast.

I ran General mud tires for years. Great off road but I only got about 25-30,000 miles before they wore down. Might get good wear from a lighter vehicle. I ran them on a '79 Bronco.

I have 2 grabbers on the back axles of my 2wd S-10 for winter use. Which reminds me i need to switch them back with my regular wheels. Good traction in the snow.

That lines up with what a couple of other people I talked to said. Not sure which way I'm going to go yet, but it won't be General.

I've had two sets, one on a car and one on a Ford F700. Both sets failed well before the tread was gone.

These were both several years ago but I won't buy any more Generals.

General tires I think are junk they are better than say Continentals but still not that great. If what you are looking for is an inexpensive tire they are defnately good for that but i see tons of them come in all chopped to shit and they dont seem to last that long. But YMMV

I will add this...they didn't last as long as some other mud tires but they were only $105 a piece compared to almost twice that for better brands.

They are decent for the money, but not nice enough for me to put them on any of my cars.

General and Continental are the same tire company.
