The factory CD player in my 04 Chevy Silverado won't eject anymore. Took it out today to see if there was some way to manually eject the CD but there isn't.
When I hit the eject button all it does is make a clicking noise over and over then says "CHECK CD" on the display. Any suggestions ARFCOM? |

You have a couple of choices... 1: take it to the dealer or a good stereo shop and they will send it to a third party vendor who will fix it. Bad news is it's expensive and you may not get your CD back. 2: Buy a new deck and a new CD and call it a day. This option is more often the best option for the $$$ 3. Use any means necessary (small pick, coathanger etc.) to get the CD out and then either risk putting another CD in there or never use the CD portion again. |

Buy a new deck then do whatever I can to get the CD out without destroying it. The CD that is. |
| The factory radio can be disassembled using a couple of screwdrivers. Once you have it out of the truck you'll see how it's held together. A little prying with a screwdiver or two on the locking tabs around the upper edges of the radio, and a couple of Phillips head screws on the top side of the radio and you will be able to get your CD out. Same thing happened to my dad's 05 Equinox with mom's favorite CD inside. Since the transport mechanism is probably toast, and you are replacing the radio anyways, don't worry too much about the orientation of the damping springs inside your old radio, it isn't worth the trouble. |
