| My father recently retired and we are thinking of opening up a small online based business for him to run. I have a question in regards to business locations, can I register a company (LLC) in a different state that does not have a state sales tax? It seems to me that this would make the accounting a little easier by not having to worry about if I sold goods to citizens in my current state (no store front, purchase online and then shipped). Anyways, it was a thought I had and was wondering if it would possible or simply not worth it. |

You will still have nexus in your current state, and you will be required to collect and remit the sales tax.
It will be well worth the money to do a two hour or so consultation with a CPA or an attorney that does work with business start-up issues (not all do). |

Thanks TAxPhd, I already have some references for accountants and am going to meet with one. It was just a thought that hit me. |
