If you scored a 65 AFQT on te practice test, you should score a 75+ on the real ASVAB. Once you get the test results you need to pay attention to the EL score.
I was an Army recruiter for three years, if you get that 75 and your Line Scores are good you can pretty much pick your job. There will be some conditions such as availability ect. 21T= Engineering 90 and up= are technical fields such as electronics repairer ect. Are you in HS? Do you have any electrical experience? Dont get wrapped up with you AFQT score (65 you mention above) anything 50+ just means you qualify for some of the extra perks the Army has to offer (non job related).
You want to pay close attention to your LINE scores. You want to see number such as these in as many fields, these tell you what you may be good at, and will be matched to certain jobs you select. For example: If you want an electrical job and it requires an EL of 115 and you get a 112 you are not qualified for that particular job and will have to move to another job, or if very close to the score the guidance counsellor can request a "Line Point Exception" only if close within 1-2 points and there is no guarantee of it getting approved. GT 110 GM 110 GL 110 CL 110 MM 110 SC 110 CO 110 FA 110 OL 110 ST 110 You probably wont get numbers like those all the way across the board. You may have some numbers in the 90's, some of them numbers come with growing up over the years. Jay-R |

^^ Thats good! The line scores will help you decide, unless you get +110 in all of them, then you once again have to decide among any job.
If you need the $ look for jobs with the highest enlistment bonus. That 50+ score locked you in for the GI bill. There is also a new program where you can save or receive $40K to purchase a house. I am not sure how it works so you should inquire about it. (It is a new program) You will get 1/2 upon graduation of AIT and the other half devided up in years on your anniversary date. If you have additional questions you know all you have to do is shoot me a PM. Jay-R |
