| Right now, I'm on ADSW in the Guard and get a fixed rate of BAH for my rank and zip code, regardless of how much rent is. I've been told that it's different when deployed, and the amount you get is directly proportionate to what you pay. Is this true? |
| It is always based off your zip code. When you deploy you are required to provide proof that you are paying rent back home to receive BAH. This is why folks think it is based off what you pay. In reality, if you show that you pay rent or mortgage, you get BAH. No matter how much or little you pay. |

Negative, You will get BAH at the same rate you are currently receiving. Only caveat is if you are paying child support you are entitled to BAH-DIFF. Get with finance if that applies in your case. If you have dependents you will also get seperation pay after 30 days if your not getting it already. However, if you deploy to the box You will also get hardship duty and hostile fire pay. You will also be in a combat zone tax exclusion area, so none of your income is taxable. Unless your an officer in which case anything after a certain $ amount is taxable. If you are Res/NG the pay system will initially take taxes out but you will get them all back the first of the following month on a seperate LES. These entitlements should more than make up for any shortcomings between BAH and your mortage payment. WpnsMan |
