(probably only pertinent to mounted troops)  When you draw your IBA, sit down and make sure you can still duck your head.  I'm six foot even and gotta wear IBA a size smaller than i'd like, cause when I sit in an uparmored, a large IBA won't let me duck my head enough to see out.  With a medium, I lose some side coverage, and it don't cover my kidneys like i'd like, but I retain full mobility, which I prefer.  ATW.

I am in a "motorized" infantry company and ride in an M1114. I too am 6'0 tall and have a disproportionally long torso (30" inseam on the trousers). I wear a large IBA and the only problem I have when mounted is that my head hits the roof because the TC seat is too high. Remove the seat, cut it down and the problem is fixed. I spend more time outside the vehicle doing dismounted ops and wouldnt want to risk losing added ballistic protection for a little comfort.

Personal choice.

It's kind of a double edged sword.....I was encouraged to get mine a size larger, which worked out well for me, it gave me some more room to breathe and get some airflow. The additional side panel armor and "Water wings" gunners wore gave me the additional protection against light fragments. The bitch was learning to work around the bulk of the vest.
