Hey guys.
Met with a recruiter today about goinh PANG and attending OCS to commission.

Everything looks pretty good and Im feeling into it, with most interest in MI.

Anybody in MI that can give me a rundown of what an officer would be doing in MI?

I decided if I dont like details behind MI or there are no options I would have no problem going into Infantry.

Thanks.

Well its different when you're in the Guard and it all really depends on what Guard unit you'd be an MI officer in.

Well Id be with PA NG most likely based out of Ft Indiantown Gap. I believe they have Infantry and some Strykers, thats what Id like to be attached to.

Are you speaking from experience?

I was Infantry most of my time in.

I've known some MI types. They enjoyed what they did.......but you should enjoy Infantry more

I agree, I would. But I want to get experience that would help me with a future career in Intelligence.

Besides, as far as I know, you can still get jump certified and go to Ranger school as MI.

Yes you can get all that but your unit is goign to pay for it.

Where you're unit is does not matter, what your unit is more important. Again I refer you to my first post. Can't really tell you anything about what you might be doing if you don't know what unit you're going to. An MI 2LT in  Guard S2 office is goign to do a very different job than one assigned to a Guard MI unit.

Where do you live in PA, and how far do you want to travel for drill?

Ft. Indiantown Gap sucks balls. We go there in the dead of winter for "cold weather training." I know for sure they have Strykers , but I don't know what kind of support units the Army has there.

Im in NEPA, about 45 min north of Allentown. I dont mind commuting as long as its affordable and Im in a good unit, doing what I want.

And what about Ft Indiantown sucks? Never been there, just have heard about it.

Powerpoint, meetings - but you don't get to choose your branch.  Needs of the state on graduation.  You going traditional, or accelerated?  How old are you, & what's your APFT score?  US citizen?  Anything to keep you from getting a clearance?  What's your GT score on the ASVAB?  How many credit hours do you have, or do you already have a bachelor's?

Im 23, havent taken any tests yet. I plan to do the accelerated, and I have completed all requirements for bachelors just dont have it yet. Nothing to keep me from TS clearances.

MI officer here.  As a S-2 stateside you will brief the weather.  Down range you will be very busy.

Ah, to be young again.  Enjoy accelerated.  Might go watch Bruno to get yourself motivated for Alabama.
