Are they against regs?

They seem to be made to wear under your vest and are fire resistant

Haven't seen them in ACU but think they make them

Some unconventional Navy personnel wear the shirts, can't say anything about Army though.

Not if they're issued to you.

Are you deploying as an individual (as I assume from the question)?

Only select units are receiving MC; it's still not very common.

As for FR, if rec'd for your mission, it will be issued...most units get it even though they never leave the wire.

The good news is, "they've" finally loosened up on wear of the ACS...by which I mean you can actually wear it now (when first issued it was regulated into uselessness (can't wear it here, can't wear it there, must have either a jacket or armor over it at all times, etc.).

Your links don't work for me, but I know what you are talking about...unless you DID mean the Bullfrog suns screen, in which case the answer is still yes, it will be issued to you.

My BIL was issued FROGs, but they mostly wore their nomex flight suit types instead

You know, the ones that aren't wearing digital blue camo...for hiding in the ocean.

THe USMC/USN have the FROG; the US Army uses the Masiff shirts.

MASIFF SHIRT

FROG SHIRT

Same purpose, just different color and cut; i think both shirts are made with the same fire-retardant fabric, but not 100% sure of it.

I think he refers to Navy Corpsmen attached to Marine rifle platoons, SEALS/SBS units, Sea Bees... THose not assigned to fleet duty.

Hopefully the Army is having better luck with their outfit than we are with ours.  The FROG bottoms just don't last, they tear up pretty quick in the field.

To the best of my knowledge, the FROG acronym (started by the USMC) is being used for the MulitCam Army uniforms.  Basically equivalent to FRACUs.

I think FROG stands for "fire retardant outer garment" (not fire resistant)... Not sure.

FROG is Fire Resistant Outer Garments...the USMC started the term for their uniforms.

The Army has FRACUs.

The new Army MCs are the first Army uniforms to be called FROG.

Cost too much anyways.  Wait for supply to hand them out.

We were allowed to wear the frog shirts only out on mission, they were a no go in the chow hall too unless you were right about too leave for mission and you just stopped in to grab a sammich for the road. no frog pants.

If they issued it to you, than you are G2G. There is no reason you should ever buy it with your own money. If it was issued to you and you are wearing it because your mission requirements dictated it then stand tall and complete the mission. If someone gives you sh?t for it, then just say “rodger that SM, I will fix myself” for if you are an officer say “ I will take that under advisement SM” and move on.

I'll wait to see what they give me and what the mission is. It will get colder out when I get there so I wont mind an extra layer of clothes. I can always order some later.
