| Is there a solution to the robbery scheme printer companies have going? Its a real racket. I can buy a cheap inkjet for $59. Buy refill ink cartridges twice, and I could have just bought a new printer... I've tried the syringe method of refill and the cartridges just end up leaking. Any ideas? |

What GTwannabe said. I like Canon printers too, currently using a Pixma MP620. I had a i960 that did OK with aftermarket cartridges, but pictures will look better with factory ink.
What are you using the inkjet for? Pictures, general business color, etc? Might be worth skipping color entirely, or getting a color laser for business use. |

Go laser, the toner is only used/ transfered to the paper alone and is not wasted.
On all ink printers, there is a foam sponge on the side of the rail that the cartridge sprays ink into to keep the head clean/clear. Truth is, more ink is sprayed to the sponge than ever onto paper, and there lies the rub/where they get you. Worse yet, if the printer is setting on stand by mode more than being used, then it self clearing ink lose (sprayed to the sponge) is even a worse ratio, and you may actually only getting a very small percentage of ink used on documents. And before you ask, once you pull the tape off the head, you can not just unplug the machine to save ink. The ink will dry in the capillaries of the head, and pretty much toast the cartridge, hence why the machine is dumping ink into the sponge to keep the ink in the head capillaries from drying out. And yes, why they give the ink printers away, either free or at dirt cheap prices, is they make there money on replacement cartridges (read go to love the machines that track the cartridges, and even if refilled, the machine will still tell you that it's empty). |

Right. If you do not need to print color, go laser. You will save a TON of money in the long run. |
