| There was a thread here telling someone how to shut down start up programs to make their pc faster, but I can't find it. How do you get to the start up list??? Please help!!!! |
| Start up programs are in a number of places. Check your Start menu, Programs, then Startup. Also, open regedit (go to Start, Run, and type regedit), and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. There are other locations, but I can't remember where they are. |

Msconfig is the simpler of the two.
Start/run/msconfig/enter. Go to the last tab labeled start up, and you can click any program to either start up of not. Another useful tool is the program Spybot. In the program, it will list the start up programs under tools, and give you an idea of they are valid or some kind of spyware / Trojan crap. |
