Don't flame me ...

I'm a Mac newb and my wife bought a flat panel monitor to hook up to it.  How do I get my entire "desktop" to show up on the flat panel as opposed on the Mac with the monitor as an alternate screen?

Everyone thoroughly confused now?

Thanks!

If you want the primary display moved to the new monitor, open the Display preferences as mentioned above.
You will see your main monitor as "1" and it will have a small image of a menu bar in it.  Click and drag that menu bar over to the other display.

You can also drag them around to reposition and adjust where your borders are and where you need to mouse to get to the second monitor.

Any way to pump sound through the speakers on my TV via an HDMI cable?  I have the adapter for the Mac.

Is your mac video card HDCP compliant with the required audio pass through/chip?

To run audio through HDMI you have to buy an external adapter to merge your audio and video feeds from your computer.  Most TVs have an HDMI plug with an audio plug right next to it –– if you have that, you can just run a seperate audio cable along with your HDMI cable and it will work that way.
