I was wondering everytime I x out of an email or window I get a pop up box. The box says that internet explorer stopped working. It is really annoying. How do I turn that warning feature off?

this isn't a feature. if IE is crashing, I would first download any of the fine malware removers and start there.

You are infected.

um no, this box only comes up after I close a page. I do not think it's a virus it's some kind of work protection feature in vista.

there is a reason your getting the error.  when closing  outlook.exe  you should'nt get an error in iexplorer.exe     i would also agree something has grabbed a hold of your system.    run a scan with superantispware or a similar program

where would I get superantispyware?

Because you have Java Scripts enabled in your web browser.

I'd format the HD and start from scratch and use a real web browser and a real anti-virus/spyware program.

The malicious software removal tool is not a good all around tool but it does remove some things that give other removal program fits.

This may sound stupid but how do I take a screen shot? once I take it where would be stored so I could pull it up? thanks.

I attempted to down load the microsoft tool. As soon as hit the download button I click save and I get the error box saying IE stopped working. The damn thing wont let me down load it. This must be a virus

Hit the Print Screen button on the keyboard.  No I'm not kidding, it should be there, and if it's not, you have a fucked up keyboard.  Anyways.  Once you do that, fire up mspaint and do and Edit > Paste.  Then save it.

This pops up anytime I close a webpage or email. I have no idea how to stop it

If you are running IE7, upgrade to IE8.

It solved all of my issues similar to yours

I have IE8. I think I have a virus. I tried to download firefox. My comp wont do it. A tiny Window opens for a second then I get the same dam error. The same thing happened when I tried to dowload the malicious software removal tool. I don't know what to do.

At this point I strongly suggest you stop fighting it, nuke the current install, and do a new clean install.

You are now a bot spammer computer.  Do not resist. resistance is futile. I bet your modem icon is flashing like crazy. See if you can buy a hard copy of kapersky or eset and install

I dumped IE and managed to download Google Chrome in safe mode. I could not get Firefox to download without corruption. I got Google Chrome installed and works great no issues. I think something in bedded in IE is causing my problem so I have given up on it. Thanks..........

honestly if you can't use ie.   i would NOT trust that  computer on the internet.   im being serious.    we are talking identity theft, credit card fraud.. etc etc

either get that machine looked at if you need data off of it.  if not reinstall windows by following the documentation on your system

Looks normal to me.  IE is a piece of crap.  It's gotten better over the past decade, but it's still pretty bad.

Download Firefox with FTP:

ftp releases.mozilla.org
anonymous
[email protected]
binary
cd mozilla.org
cd firefox
cd releases
cd 3.0.13
cd win32
cd en-US
get "Firefox Setup 3.0.13.exe"

I have to do that about once a month on systems at work where IE just stops working.z
