Is it possible to set your desktop wallpaper to random files in a location?  That maybe could scroll as if it was a screensaver?  This would be in Vista BTW.

Don't know. But I'm kind of curious myself so I'll tag this!

So... is there a way to do it without the spyware?

XP has it, and XP is windows 2000 Xtra Pretty.  Best I've seen, Vista is the look at me version of XP ([noun] the visual percept of a region;).

Right click on the desktop, properties, screensaver, My Picture Slide Show.  Click settings to set the folder, and double there is no porn in there (unless you want porn as your screen saver.)

That's the screen saver, I think. The point was to do it with the desktop background.

This.  Like every so often my desktop background changes.

IIRC you will be able to do that in Windows 7, though I saw that messing around with the RC. Not sure about Vista or XP. Probably some third-party app that does it.

In Windows 7 you can.

1. right click on desktop

2. choose personalize

3. click "Desktop Background"

4. Select the folder.

5.  Check the pictures you want to rotate between.

Not sure about Vista, see if the same procedure works.
