I'm trying to set up a linksys WRT160N. My ISP gave me a static IP address. So I set go to enter all the information (IP, subnet, gateway, DNS) in the router, and I can only get local area connection.

I can get internet connection if I plug the ethernet cable directly into my computer and input the addresses my ISP gave me.

Thanks.

PC? XP or Vista?

You're trying to get a wireless connection?

You can't see the network at all or you just can't establish a connection to a network the computer sees?

Whats the source of the internet? (cable, dsl, etc)

If it is only your computer you are trying to connect, just run directly into the modem and see what happens.

Beyond that, wish I could help you more, I'm not very Vista savvy though.

after you setup the router with the ISP info, did you remove that same info from the PC and set it back to auto config?

is the router getting a ip on the wan side (go look at the routers admin pages.  also most recent routers have a ping tool in their admin pages, go DOS arfcom)
