Does anyone know what to do when you get the white screen on a macbook?  I tried to run my boot disk with no luck.

Any Mac Gurus out there?

white screen that wont clear and boot means damaged or defective hard drive....look on the bright side though... you can upgrade the hard drive to a 500 gig for about $120.00.  Take it to apple and see what your options are if you have apple care they should help you if not Mac Mall has some great deals on hard drives and its pretty much plug and play.

even with a defective HD, you should still be able to boot from the CD/DVD. does it do anything at all or is it pretty much a brick with a white screen?

nothing flashes at all?

I got a white screen once, with a flashing apple and one of these: flashing back and forth.

I reloaded the OS and its been fine since.
