My old computer died so I went to authorize my new computer to get all my old files off the itunes store.

It let me authorize my new computer and it said it was successful but I can't find any of the music.

I have deauthorized and re-authoreized also... still the same problem.

Anyone got anything to help that would be great.

Thanks, San

you can't re-download them, its one time only.  You have to find the old files and put them back on your new hard drive then reauthorize.

Do you have them on an iPod? There are free programs that will let you load your iPod songs back into your new computer.

ETA: Your song files were (are) stored on your old hard drive (and an iPod if you have one that was synced) and not at iTunes.

the old comp took a crap - I'm trying to do it without pulling the old drive and putting it into a new "external case"

end yes I can re-download them for a fee... which in my eyes is total bullshit.
This is why i sold my first ipod to begin with - iHate iTunes...

you have to transfer the data from the old system.   itunes won't let you redownload them unless you repay for them.

I have never seen Apple do this. All my customers who have been in a situation have simply called and begged for mercy and they issued a re download to all of them.
