Hey guys,

Im going to be leaving my current area but still working the same job, in order to do that i need to know what i can get to use a live webcam at each office.

In other words, each computer will need to have a webcam and software that will let us talk and see each other. The point of that is so the other person can use their webcam to show me things on a plan or paper so i dont have to be there, they could pick up the cam and show me things in the room.

I know people talk to each other all the time on the computer with video but i have no idea where to start.

Thanks.

Eh....

How much money you thinkin about spending here?

Combining multiple streams into a "hollywood squares" type display isn't something your off the shelf product does.

The pie in the sky tech is Cisco Telepresence.

You can also use Microsoft Live Communication Server.  And Cisco has a videoconference solution as well.

I wouldnt really need all that, all i need is software where two people can talk on the computer with video through webcams. Skype i googled last night it says it does it for free. But i have never used it.

I have used skype and it works fine. talked to my wife in china and it was very clear. How clear the video is will depend on the quality of your web cam

If that's what you need i'd just go with Live Messenger.  It's a free download and free to use.

As a bonus it will extend other collaborative software like MS Outlook and other office products like Groove and Onenote.

live messenger does what you want. get a couple lifecam 6000s and use LifeChat; it's nicer in some ways.

it's an add-on that comes with the camera, it's a little nicer chat software. If you have two webcams already, I'd stick with live messenger

Try Dell Video Chat

The software is free.  I bought a webcam for our family and the grandparents.

Now, they can see the kids anytime they want.
