The vast majority of cookies are benign and are often required in order for some websites to work correctly.  I don't worry about cookies...

Im sorry if I sound like an idiot on this subject.  Since Ive noticed these cookies, it seems like my system as been running very slow on or off line.

Google "clearing cookies."

Boot in safe mode and try it again

Safe mode with out networking

After that is done

  1. Get rid of cookies. These are the little crumbs that are left behind on your computer after you visit a website. Click on Start>> Control Panel>>Internet Options. The second row down will say Delete Cookies, click on that. Click on Delete Temporary file; when the little box comes up that says "delete offline," you don't have to click on that. Click on Delete temporary Files.

Alternatavely, download CCleaner and CleanUp! and run them both after installation. This will take care of all of your wasted space (e.g cookies, internet cache files).

Cookies are more of a little data file or repository and would not normally affect how fast your machine runs.  The space they take up should be negligible.  When I'm cleaning a problem off of a machine, I don't worry about the cookies...I think you should look elsewhere for the problem.

Try using SpyBot-Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware...they will check your machine for spyware/malware as well as removing the cookies for you if you want.  If I have a machine gummed up with something, I usually have to alternate running them a few times until the machine comes up clean.

www.spybot.com
www.lavasoft.com for ad-aware

If you have a hardcore virus, you can download a 30 day trial of eset nod32 which is what I tend to run these days.
