Ok, so I want to spend about $200 to upgrade my video card.

I've never used SLI before.

What I'd like to know, if anybody here can help, is whether I'd be better off with a single $200 card or a pair of cards in SLI?

A single 400 dollar card will usually be better than 2 200 dollar ones. Not all games support SLI. Use of multiple monitors will eliminate your SLI use while using the other screens also. You can however run multiple monitors on all the present ports. You just won't get the graphic boost from the SLI connections.

In the best of circumstances, a SLI card usually will net you a 25 to 50% boost in select games refresh rates. Or, allow you to run at a higher resolution/ anti-aliasing. Your best bet is to look and see if the games you play even support SLI before you buy.

Thanks for the heads up.

Having my router brick on me kind of killed my plans though.
