| I have Windows XP. When I start my computer, it starts up like normal, but it won't show me any icons on my desktop or the task bar. It has the wallpaper, but otherwise, the desktop itself is non-functioning. If you control alt delete, and use the task manager, you can open pretty much anything you want. It shows that the normal processes are open, but all of the CPU is being used by "System Idle", and it won't let me terminate that process. Anybody know how to fix this? Thanks. |

System idle using CPU is normal. Thats how idle your cpu is. However, the rest of your description sound serious. you need to reboot and keep tapping the f8 key. you will get a screen that will allow you to boot safe mode. try that and see where you get. It wont look pretty but you can begin diagnostics form there. -Foxxz |
