So I have been reluctantly been dragged into this technological world and need some advice. I just picked up an ipod 80gb Classic and have spent the last 3 mornings down loading cds onto itunes, a chore I would care not to repeat. I have been looking around and see that I could back up to a powered external hard drive, but quite frankly I don't think I need 100+GB of storage (I have about 20GB of music.) I have also seen flash drives that are 20+GB of storage and that seems to me like a more piratical way of backing up my music collection. I really don't know much about any of this stuff so any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks. |

yeah you have 20 gb of music NOW my suggestion buy one of these seagate install the software, tell the software what to backup. and you will have a 2nd copy of all your data. friends don't let friends use thumb drives as backup sources they do have two different versions of the product i listed , the PRO version has the automatic backup softwware. the non pro doesn't |

figure out what size you think you need, then quadruple it. And hell, USB 2.0 harddrives are so cheap now, you might as well get a 500gb drive...they are only about $100. I like Western Digital and Seagate. Seagate has an 8 yr warranty! I do not recommend you get a flash based disk, as they are too slow. here are a couple good ones: www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136175 www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148235 |
+1 I just bought one of those to use as a hot backup for my Mac mini (using SuperDuper). Works great! |
