Is it formatted FAT or as a Mac disk?

Assuming you're using a PC and the card was formatted by the Mac as FAT, you can use Photo Recovery and likely retrieve the images.  It's free.

If it was formatted as a Mac volume, go ahead and try to retrieve the files with Photo Recovery on your PC, but it may not work.  In that case your best bet is to rescue the images on the Mac.  A good utility is Photo Rescue.  Just download the demo and if it finds any images you would like to grab, and if it's worth $30 to get them, you're in business.

Good luck!
