I have a cable coming into a moto surfboard modem to a linksys g router. I bought a new N router and tried to install it with no success. Could not get a IP address.  Autually this is notthe first time I ahve had difficulty. i have tried a couple of times in the past with other router of various make and they all have the same problem. But when i hook up the linksys after the failed attempts the linksys runs perfect.

Any suggestions on what may be wrong?

check with your internet service provider,  you might have to clone the mac address of your cable modem to get it to work.

thanks for the info.

I spent quite a few hours on it before I gave up and returned it. Hook back up my linksys and its good as gold.

But the range sucks so bad on the linksys.
