i just bought a asus m2n-e sli board.

bought 2 seagate sata II harddrives.

i enabled raid 1  in the bios (raid utility)   after i installed the nforce driver,  this program called mediashield pops up and starts rebuilding the array  .     this is done by software ??      since this was a hardware raid why is this software needed ?

im confused or is this normal

thanks

I have a RAID 0 setup on an Nvidia chipset motherboard, and I don't see any software needed to run it. Granted there is no "shielding" to be done with a RAID 0 setup, but still I don't think there should be any software other than the drivers.

The drivers are there for hot swapping applications and RAID management functions.

It's just tools, but not necessary to install for winblows...

In my past experience, be wary of "additional" Nvidia drivers that come bundled on an Asus Mb CD.....Did you also install anything like a "Forceware" network.firewall manager from Nvideous?
