I'm not sure if this is the right forum but I think there's a lot of general tech and gadget fellas here.

Looking for a security camera system.  Wireless, dvr, and under $1000 would be nice.  Under $500 would be nicer.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Here is what a wireless hacker can do with your wireless camera network:

That is if your cameras are un-encrypted and running off a specific wavelength. I've got access to a few toys that search for wireless camera networks, etc. In most cases you'll get a fuzzy picture if anything at all. Not to mention that most people are not driving around with homemade war-spying boxes like Kevin and Dan. People can buy something like this.  We have something similar to that unit that we use.

First rule of anything wireless is don't do something you don't want others seeing. As for security cameras, who gives a crap if someone can see that you have a camera pointed at a door. Seems like a deterrent to me.
