I want to get rid of Windows Media Player. I don't use it at all. Naturally, I can't do it using add/remove software.

So, how can I remove it from my computer?

Thanks.

That will only get rid of the icon for WMP.  The files that comprise the app will still be there.

There's a reason for that...its integrated into the OS.  While its technically possible to get rid of it, I DO NOT recommend it.  Let me rephrase.  You'd be an idiot to try.  Removing and/or attempting to remove it from your Windows install will in all likelihood significantly affect the stability and functionality of the system as a whole.

Go snag a copy of some other media player (I like WinAmp), set it to take ownership of all the media files that WMP used to play, and forget that WMP is even installed...except when it's playing Microsoft's proprietarily formatted media clips.  Then...you're pretty much locked into it.
