I just bought some more RAM and came home to install it and cant figure out how to open my Dell Dimension 3000. There apear to be pop rivets holdong the case closed. If I pop those can I replace them with some screws or is there another way. It way past its warranty so I am not worried about that.

Dell cases are toolless, there should be a button or lever on the side or back of the case.

New dell or old dell?

should be a few screws on the back on one side.  I know the old ones had all sorts of switches and levers to open them up.  look on the bottom.  the levers used to be green in color but some were just the sheet steel.

I've got a Dimension 2400 and updated my Ram a while back, there is a lever, thingy on the back, on the side opposite all the connections.  Just push it down and it releases the side panel.
