[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Windows System Error message. Now what?

A pop up balloon has lately been appearing with this message:

Windows System Error. There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network.

I've never seen it before-any suggestions and/or directions?

save everything you have open on all your computers. then turn them off. turn off all dsl/cable modem and router. then:

1. turn the modem on

2. wait 30 sec turn the router on.

3. turn your computers back on

if it still happends one of your pc's have a staticly assigned ip that needs to be changed to dynamic

I recently ran into this one at work on someones laptop. One of your ports has a set ip address and your other port is trying to open the same ip address.
