I think its gonna be a heck of a system.   you might want to reconsider that floppy though.  its will probably slow the systemdown by at least 10%

smart move on the 10k WD.  i always forget those are available

i'll let u know about the board madman. And to my esteemed bf2 partner in crime: cruze i'm only gettin the floppy just incase i need to use the xp boot disks otherwise it won't be hooked up.

ETA the only thing i'm worried about is the heat that 10k will produce but hopefully all the extra room and those 4 fans in the case will cool it well!

most of the gaming systems i build, let you put a fan behind the harddrive. So it blows air acroos the HD and towards the back of the case.  4 case fans should be good.  I had 4 case fans im my gaming system and a 120mm fan, but i was having trouble sleeping at night.    imagine that

i have a whole seperate room for the system so im not worried about the noise

Sounds like a hell of a machine.  But only 74 GB HardDrive?

i'm not a huge software buff so i haven't ever put more than maybe  20 gigs on a hard drive ever. If i get more into video rendering though i'll probably buy a regular 7200 rpm sata drive which i can get alot bigger for the same price that 10k is just basically for gaming its quicker loading so i'm not at a disadvantage to others in loading time.

Get a harddrive fan @ tigerdirect for  5or6 bucks.  I believe it is made by masscool and it works great.
Also might want to reconsider your 480w supply. If your not going to use lights or anything then the 350w will run your fans and everything you need it to, plus its cheaper.

Gonna have to respectfully disagree with that last one. If he's gonna be running DUAL 6800GT's in SLI along with a water cooling system, a Raptor harddrive, and 2 DVD burners, then he WILL need the higher rated power supply. That would not be a good place to economize.

agreed.

you can never have a powersupply that has too much wattage.   the less the powersupply has to work the longer it will last

I put this power supply in my new build a couple months ago. It's been very nice so far. 510 Watts!!

i'm gettin that 480watt with the rest of the system today so if it isn't enough i'll upgade

I would agree with this very much. Recommended power supply for a SLI system is 450 to 480 watts. However, this better be a true power type power supply because most generic ps's only burst power at 450 watts. But minimum recommended power wattage is just that. It's a minimum. To run SLI reliable, something over 500 watts should be used.

oops.. missed the water cooling system.

Yeah you will probably need something around 480 or 500.
