hardware:

2.53mhz p4
msi motherboard with 3 memory slots 184 pin
400mhz fsb

bought this thing a couple of years ago when it was just about the fastest thing on the market.  only came with 256k of 266mhz ddr.

i've tried upgrading the memory, but i can't get it to recognize more than 1 stick at a time.

i've tried the generic compusa stuff at 266mhz, both 256 and 512 sizes

i've tried the kingston 400mhz stuff which i was told is supposed to be compatable with almost everything.

and no, i'm not mixing and matching- all the sticks are identical

WTF?

check for a bios flash from the manufactor.   then look up the type of memory you need from crucial.com

check the manual u might have to install the the memory in a certain order.  make sure you are seating the ram all the way in the socket, so you hear a slight snap.
