I've been having some wierd problems with my computer. It's a rather old dell running on windows 98 second edition. I can't afford a new computer right now and don't even use this one to it's fullest extent. I got extra ram when I first got it and am nowhere near filling the 21 gig hard drive.

So if there is a simple answer to this problem I would rather try that. A few days ago when shutting down I did not close all windows. This has not been a problem in the past but this one time I got all sorts of errors. My monitor changed it's resolution on its own upon restarting. I changed it back to the way I like it. The Ddhelp error is the only one that seems to persist. It "seems" to happen if I do to many things at once or too fast. Last night it locked up on drudge report and I decided to defrag and run scandisk. I got the error today although it did not cause total computer lockup.

Any ideas?

That deals with DirectX. Try reinstalling it with this DirectX file from download.com for your OS.

Thanks, I'll try that. It seems to have something to do with my screen resolution. I changed the way the colors are displayed and did not have that problem the last time. I have a feeling it's going to raise it's ugly head though, I'll try what you suggested!

DirectX has to do with 3D graphics. Therefore your messed up monitor.

It works great now!!! I downloaded a newer version of windows media player so I could see videos at bigboys.com and it must have overwritten something. It's churning away like a brand new computer! Thanks!
