Use the AV/AM you're comfortable with.  People around here will all recommend their favorites.  Pick one and go with that.

You sound as if you're not a very technical user so it's especially important that you understand that endpoint anti-virus/anti-malware/firewall software is only nominally effective (at best).

It's on you as the user to be the only security system known that works effectively a large part of the time.  Use common sense and stay away from the click-bait, "free" this or that, janky websites, and emails that you aren't expecting or that appear the least bit "off" to you for any reason.

Any "adult" oriented content such as gambling, pornography, etc. is extremely likely, if not certain, to result in a compromise (or number of compromises) of one sort or another. The list goes on but you get the point.

Your security software will almost never protect you from, or even catch, the majority of compromises resulting from user initiated and/or interactive activity. They simply have no chance of keeping up with the threats.

It's better than nothing (depending on who you talk to) but don't rely on it and always do your part to avoid having your computer, your data, and possibly even your personal information, compromised.
