| I'm wanting to get one to check on the dog while at work, does anyone have any recommendations? None of them seem to have great reviews on Amazon. |

Sounds like you're looking for an indoor model to sit on a shelf or something? A guy I worked with uses a Nest Cam to watch his dog. I thought it worked really well but it's not PTZ. He'd just leave the living room dog cam streaming video on his iPhone all day when he was at his desk.
I can research one for you if let me know exactly what you need. |

Indoors, sorry I should have clarified earlier. I've looked at the Nest cam, and it's a little more than I want to pay. I was looking at this one, I just can't believe I cant find one with good reviews. https://www.amazon.com/Amcrest-IP2M-841-1920TVL-Wireless-Camera/dp/B0145OQTPG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1474201450&sr=8-3&keywords=ptz+ip+camera |

You might consider searching for "Hikvision PTZ" on Amazon or elsewhere. Hikvision makes very nice and reasonably priced stuff. But it's gonna be a bit more money than you have in mind. Or, buy two static cameras, set them on top of your TV cabinet (or some other central location), angle them at 90 degrees and you'll have reasonable coverage of the dog. |

I did a quick look through Amazon and I might consider this one for your purposes. It seems to be a newer model and many of the reviewers got a discounted sample to review though. I need to figure out how to get those discounts to review!

I looked those up, and they do look pretty great but the price is a little more than I want to pay. That's a good idea about the two static cameras, I may consider that. |

I always wonder if it causes the reviewer to have a positive bias. It does look like a good camera, and no one has had any trouble with the app like most of the others I've looked at. |

Here's one that looks exactly the same as the other one that I linked to, except it's a different "brand". Similar recent reviews by people who got it at a discount. This one states it's a 720P in the description but one picture says 1080P, where the other said 1080P, though at least one reviewer said it wasn't really that much.
https://www.amazon.com/TRF-Surveillance-Recording-Multiplayer-Microphone/dp/B01JGAVKRQ ETA: And another "brand" with 720P and 1080P models. It looks slightly different and has reviews going back to 2014. I didn't look too close to see if has the same app as the newer ones. https://www.amazon.com/Agazer-Megapixel-Surveillance-Monitoring-Detection/dp/B01HCV5MAW Now I'm finding even more of the same and will stop posting links after this.

I came here to post exactly this. PTZ is cool but 90% of the time its just in one location. I think you'd be better served by two separate wide angle cameras. I've played with a lot of these cameras and I've concluded that the Foscam C1 is the best bang for the buck. These can be had for $60ish each and are really nice. They also make a 'lite' version that is even cheaper (no night vision and no Ethernet jack). I'd just get the real C1 if it was me. I like to configure them on the LAN. |
