Trying to find more staples at Home Depot for my Arrow / Powershot 5900 got me wondering about other options. (spoiler - you cannot get staples for a 5900 at Home Depot)

What is your preference for stapling cat 5/6?

I have a Powershot 5900 that uses its own proprietary type of insulated staples. Its normally fine, but sometimes it doesn't get the staple properly into the wood.

Next I've found an Arrow T59 which uses its own version of insulated staples. I'm not sure if this is newer/older/better/worse than the 5900.

Other places refer to a T25 stapler, but some say it is too narrow for cat 5/6 data cables.

Maybe a T72 for double runs?

The only other brand that I've stumbled on is Cable Boss, which looks like my 5900, but of course does not seem to be interchangeable.

I'm surprised that I those were the only data cable compatible ones I could find  with a reasonable amount of searching. There were plenty that use standard flat top and bare crown staples, but nothing designed to protect 4 pair.

Staples were commonly used in the past on phone and low voltage cabling but they are not normally used now.

I got a  Gardner Bender, I can get all kinds of staples for it including romex. the staples have a stop so they can't cut into the jacket of a cable.

So what is the current answer for putting data/coax wires up and out of the way in a crawlspace or along the side of a house?

That is the Cable Boss I mentioned. It looks a lot like the cheap plastic 5900 I have, so I wasn't immediately smitten with it. What has your real-world experience with it been like?

I would use something like this for a single cable that is going to be relatively permanent.  Many different sizes are available, make sure you use the correct one for your cable.

I use these.

https://www.amazon.com/Steren-Grip-Clip-Cable-Clips/dp/B000E9ZKDY/ref=pd_sim_23_3?ie=UTF8&dpID=41Gg15cGykL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&psc=1&refRID=C4Y7YNAMHJ5A3DAY7VCT

They work inside or outside. But if you put them on the outside of a house the cable will sag eventually. I use small 3 inch zip ties to tie the cable to the clip. Seems to keep it tight. Staples never work for long on the side of a house.

Those things are awesome secure.  I have some double ones that the Dish guy used when he installed my satellite TV way back when.  I keep reusing them for various ham radio projects and they keep going strong.

I like it a lot, some times if you don't have it pushed tight against a rafter or stud they won't completely go in. I use to use what Averwo used but I like the stapler better.

P clips or screws. They took all of our cable staplers away.
