My laptop went down again. When trying to start it says missing file \windows\system32\config\system I dont want to loose everything can anyone help me get this going? Compaq Presario 1500T Windows XP |

Well, this has worked for me, but I've also heard it doesn't. Boot off the XP cd, and select 'repair'. As I said, it worked for me, but I know a couple of people that lost everything when it was done. Quoted: My laptop went down again.
