I ordered one about a year ago and never touched it. Then the other day I got the idea that I hate it when my modem at home crashes and I can't remote in.
So I took the raspberry pi and a relay board and hooked them up next to the modem. Now: -The Raspberry will restart the modem on lack of dsl/internet connection. -The Raspberry will confirm the public IP and send me an email as such upon modem boot, IP change, and once a day just for insurance. What did I learn: -I used python. Never written anything in python. If one has never written software you could pick up some really shitty habits programming in python. Yes, I could buy a static IP, use some dyn DNS, or some other service, but this works for me. CSB. |
