Dell or HP.  Avoid IBM I hate them. Also why only 16 GB of memory?  The more the better.

Thank you for the recommendation! I will start to look at Dells and HPs.
16 GB of memory is just minimum spec. I will opt for more when selecting the final candidate.

Cisco C220 M3

$3,224.76

2xE5-2609v2,2x8GB,

2x 650W power supply for C-series rack servers

3x 300GB 6Gb SAS 10K RPM SFF HDD/hot plug/drive sled mounted

No OS included but easy to add. More ram is cheap and these things are rock solid.

Oh yeah the management is a dream. By far the easiest servers to manage I have ever used. No additional licenses for remote management. No dedicated management appliance or vm required.

Last server I setup. I plugged in the CICM (management network) two 10G Twinax cables and power. Sat down at my desk and did not have to get back up to fully update and setup the server.

hp dl360 gen8 or gen9.  The gen9's have been out for a few months.  Might be able to get a gen8 at a discount.

Also, the cisco server mentioned above would be a good option.  Not a fan of dell / IBM / lenovo.

I know several people that use supermicro and swear by them.  Just know that you might need to be a little more knowledgeable about hardware to use them.

don't just think initial hardware.
if you are signing up for support, take that into account too.
it has been 10 years I guess since I had to deal with that part of the world, but ibm used to have the best support for stuff.
HP would be next and dell was at the bottom.

I did eventually figure out how to bypass level 1 support for dell and that made life easier. but for ibm I always had a knowlegible person to talk to and didn't have to wade through the did you reboot it script.
