imo get a galaxy tab 4. ended up getting some cheap chinese knockoff and all i can say is it was crap. screen doesn't look good at all, like it would go gray just looking at it. was slow and fairly un responsive.
glad i decided to keep it and not give it to my dad for christmas. gave him the tab 4 and its pretty much perfect for a cheep tablet. good screen, fast enough, and not buggy. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00J8DL78O/ref=psdc_1232597011_t1_B00HWMPSJC |

Get him a Nabi. Its an Android tablet with some really cool features for the kids and of course all the content management and restrictions you'd want.
Mine has one and he loves it. I love it too. You can reward them with game time and stuff when the homework is done, things like that. |
