Does anyone scan all their paper into their computer? I am behind on taxes and wondered if scanning all my receipts would speed up the process. What all is involved. How do I get the numbers on paper into a spreadsheet or database?

You'll need some type of OCR (optical character recognition) software.

I've seen sheet-feed scanners under $300 at the store.  I'm certain they come with some type of OCR.

Importing that data into your software is another story.

I have some idea of what you'd like to do.

If you check off as an option when scanning, that each document is to be able to be read , OCR, then those documents are readable. However it does not categorize all of this.
