I know nothing about iOS. I set this used 2600 up about five years back following a recipe and it has been worked fine until a power outage today.
On my Serial0/0 interface the Status and Protocol are both down. Going into config and typing interface Serial0/0 no shutdown end doesn't change this state. I am at a loss on where or how to proceed. Any help would be much appreciated. |

Quoted: Provider insists that it isn't, and that they were getting a positive loop-back test on the smart jack on the end of the telco equipment -- they're insisting the problems in on my end. Start Here. http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_4/interface/configuration/guide/ht1dsu.html |
I ran the loop-back diagnostics described here, all pings completed and this is what show interface brings up:
Serial0/0 is up, line protocol is up (looped) |

It appears that your hardware was not damaged in the power outage (Surge). While in Enable Mode, type the following command. show run. This will give you the running config of your router. You should see a bunch of information in regards to your Serial Interface 0/0. If there is nothing there your router has lost it's configuration. The link I posted above will give you an idea of what you should be seeing. Is your T1 line powered or is it plugged into an AC outlet? Possible that it got fried. If AC powered, and your router interface config looks good, get your provider on the phone and request that they test it again to a Hard Loop. That will confirm if the back plane of the NIU/Smart Jack is good. |

It appears that your hardware was not damaged in the power outage (Surge). Configuration is there and correct. The router and card is definitely OK? I'm not sure how to argue the point with the provider (Cogent), when they are positive that they are getting a good signal. |

Westell NIU card has PWR, LB, and ESF lights on. I'm not sure that LB is always on or not. For giggles, picture below.
