OK, I'm visiting my brother for the holidays, and my laptop (ASUS N61V, built in wireless-N) connects fine (well, it says it does, gives me 3-4 bars and calls the connection "excellent"), but I get horrible data dropouts, in both firefox and World of Tanks.  The problem is intermittent, in that sometimes I get great connections and throughput, but at others it becomes unusable.  My brother's wireless router is a Cisco E3000, and no one else seems to have problems with it.  My built in wireless is an Atheros 9285.  Other connectors that my device manager shows are a Gigabit ethernet controller, a Microsoft "Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter" (I disabled this but no change), and a Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter, which has always shown as not working/starting correctly.

This is a chronic problem whenever I visit my brother.  On the other hand, I connect at my home and at various other locations (airports, hotels, etc) fine.   Wireless security is WPA-2 personal, with AES at my brother's house, which is the same security I have on the home connection.  I am at a loss here.

Any suggestions?

Mike
