As the title says, I need a good android based tablet.  Any suggestions?

I'm about to order a Nexus 7 for myself, but I hear a lot of good buzz about the Samsung Galaxy offerings.  The iPad family is a solid option and probably the gold standard of tablets.  I already have a couple of those in the household so I'm personally looking for something a bit different.

i like my asus tf300. had it about 4 months. no issues. i didn't bother buying the separate keyboard for it. battery lasts me about 3 days with just general surfing and whatnot. watching netflix cuts battery life down to about 1/2 of that.

Nexus7 32GB for $249, can't be beat!

The SD storage is usable as general storage for content correct?

Stay away from Asus at all cost. My wife's Transformer Prime has been back 3 times already and the display has now gone out. My Asus Republic of Gaming Laptop has also been back 3 times and is a complete POS. They are far from quality any more.

Thought there was no SD storage on the Nexus 7.

Either the 7" Nexus 7 or the new 10" model coming out with the best resolution of any tablet on the market (including the Ipads with the Retina display)

The Nexus 7 is made by Asus.

There's not. There is now a 16GB and a 32GB, and tons of storage on the cloud. You can also store things on a USB with an adapter IIRC

Did not know about the USB adapter.  I was hesitant to buy a Nex 7 due to the lack of internal storage, but if there's a workaround it's more appealing.  Off to Google....thanks.

Sounds like you've already made up your mind, but I really like my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1.  I primarily use it for work, but it also works fine for general surfing and whatnot.

OTG cable from Amazon.  It'll cost you about $1.50.
