Seems to be a problem on my end. Like if I go to another website that has a login screen, and I type my login and everything, it will go to the temporary "thanks for logging in, redirecting you" screen but instead of then taking me to the main page, it takes me back to the login screen. If I manually refresh, it shows the main page.
On arfcom, something similar happens. I'll have an IM notification, but when I go to the inbox, there won't be any unread messages. Unless I refresh the page. Then it shows up. Ditto for the forum and new posts in threads. What is going on? I've tried deleting cookies, deleting history, etc... nothing seems to fix it. I've scanned with AVG and spybot SD. Neither has found any computer AIDs. |

Quoted: Firefox I suggest getting Chrome, Safari, and updating your IE to the latest version. Then, first reproduce the problem in Firefox. Copy the address from the address line (the URL), open up a browser you haven't used on that site yet (this is why you need several) and pasting the URL in and seeing what happens. Is the browser that has never seen that site before showing you old stuff? "Sticky" content can also be the result of the network or the ISP using a proxy server. How do you connect? ISP? Cable/DSL? Home router? Do you own it or is it the ISP's? Wired or wireless? Using any oddball stuff? Magic Jack? "Speed increasing" software? Any "security" software that monitors your connection like NetNanny or anything else? It is VERY EASY for someone who is a non expert to royally fuck up a proxy server settings. I have seen ISPs do this and swear up and down there isn't one there until we threatened to pull the plug, and magically, the problems stopped. (Meaning, they found there actually WAS one in use and it was fucked up or forgotten about.)

Connecting through an "aircard." It's 3G or dialup here, unfortunately.
Nothing unusual. I share the internet connection over a wired router with another computer through windows ICS. Only security software I'm using right now is AVG and Spybot SD. And I only installed Spybot SD after this problem started because I thought maybe there was some kind of malware causing the issue. I will try using another browser and see what happens. I'd rather not do it with chrome, tho. Call me tinfoil hattish, but some of the license agreement parts seemed pretty ominous. |
