I had save the "jason" file from my old harddrive that contains the bookmarks from firefox. I have been using my new HD for awhile now and have a new list of bookmarks. Id like to get some of the bookmarks that ive saved from the other drive.

My question is this. Ive got the bookmarks saved on a thumbdrive, if move the file to the proper folder with the other bookmarks, will it over-ride and wipe out what ive already got or will it simply add to the existing list?

That doesnt answer my question.

I already know where the file is and how to put it on my computer.

The bookmarks are on a file, called the "jason" file. That file is on a thumbdrive.

All I have to do is put that file in the Firefox folder, my question was whether that file will over-ride my existing bookmarks

Yes it will over write your current file. To combine the two export your current favorites to html (Bookmarks -> Organize Bookmarks -> Import & Backup -> Export HTML)

save this file in folder1 on your desktop.
Now go ahead and swap out your JSON files. (Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Restore > Choose File)
Now import the contents of folder1 back into firefox (Bookmarks -> Organize Bookmarks -> Import & Backup -> Import HTML)
You may need to delete any duplicate bookmarks. It may be the long way around but it works.

why not add xmarks to firefox (all browsers) and just sync them?  FF is available in a thumb version too, which is great to have your links wherever you go.  FF on thumb, import list on thumb to FF on thumb, add xmarks to all browsers, sync.
