I work at a pawn shop, and we got a lap top in on pawn. The owner lost it to us and now my problem starts.... DELL Laptop running Windows Vista 64bit I can get on windows using a Guest account. The owner has a password protected Admin account. I tried running OPHcrack and it could not find a password for the admin. I went to re-install Vista and there is no Windows Key sticker on the machine. I tried a program that is suppose to reveal the key but no joy, since this is an OEM install the program couldn't find the key. So any suggestions on how to either crack the admin password or find a way to reveal the Windows key that is already on the machine?

Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: the product key is under the battery That was embarrassing.... It is indeed under the battery. Thanks I'm curious whether or not that got you going again. Generally you need an OEM CD for that key to work. I got Windows Vista loaded and running first thing this morning. Local computer shop sold us a Windows Vista CD, I entered the product key on the label and it installed with no trouble. |

I have been doing IT for 20 years and never would have thought to look under the battery. Now. Do you know what the straightened paper clip is for? |

I use mine to reach in and push the RESET button on my cable modem. Also handy to hold the mainspring compressed on Ruger revolvers and S&W J frames. |
