I currently have an old (5 years) Logitech V270 bluetooth mouse and it is slowly losing its ability to click. Right click is almost completely gone and left click is getting weird.
So I went to staples and best buy today to see what they had and I'll probably stick to Logitech and liked the Anywhere MX, and the Marathon M705, I'm slightly leaning to the Anywhere MX. Anywhere MX: felt a lot sturdier, just overall solid. but also seems a bit smaller than what I have now. The laser tech is supposed to be superb to the point you can even use it on glass. The scroll wheel seems nice but doesn't (from what I've heard) function as a middle click, which I use A LOT, however with the number of buttons this thing has I can reprogram another button to do the job. Battery Life ~3 Months. Price: $50 Marathon M705: felt significantly cheaper. A bit bigger than what I have now. The laser tech is nothing special, and had odd sensor placement, though not sure if that would matter. The scroll wheel is similar in function to the above but its construction differs such that it still provides middle click. It also has the same number of buttons as the above. Battery life ~ 3 years Both use 2 AAs and the Logitech unified receiver. Use: my laptop (Win7) so it's going to be shoved into my backpack and lugged around. So small isn't terrible but I have larger hands than your average rapture. I would like to use my laptop for some casual gaming which was tough with the latency of my current bluetooth mouse, even before it started to lose the fundamental functions of a mouse. But this will also be my primary, daily use mouse. So does anyone have experience with any of these or have other suggestions? |

Haven't tried any of the models you listed, but I can recommend a good notebook mouse: Logitech V450 Nano. Should be available at some of the places you listed. I bought mine at Costco a couple of years ago.
I have somewhat large hands, and I love my Logitech V450 Nano. I use it with my notebook (obviously) and take it to/from school frequently. It's holding up well so far. One of the V450 Nano's best features is the tiny USB receiver, which can be stored inside the mouse itself. But since it sticks out very little, I usually just leave it in the computer. It's so small that it isn't likely to get broken off accidentally. Many other "notebook" mice have huge USB receivers, which stick way out, just asking to get snapped off. Another nice feature is the scroll wheel. It does horizontal scrolling, but the forces are balanced just right. It's easy to middle-click instead of accidentally doing a horizontal scroll. I put fresh batteries in my V450 Nano last week. Logitech's software predicts ~70 days of power. Given that I don't actually use the mouse anywhere close to 24/7, that works out to many months before the next set of batteries. The mouse shuts off automagically when not being used, further extending battery life. Before I bought the laptop, I used the mouse with my netbook. Liked it in that role for the same reasons. I still use the V450 Nano with the netbook sometimes. Almost need to get a second V450 Nano, but I don't use the netbook much any more. |

I have already opened it up down to the microswitches but I did not attempt to take those apart and clean them out since I figured I would likely just make it worse/break it. I'm going to get a new either way as I'm getting sick of the latency on bluetooth and all of the pads on the bottom of the mouse are long gone. |

I've tried almost all of the current Logitech mice, either through work or their testing program. With my laptop, I have completely gone away from any of the compact "notebook" mice, because I'm using it so much. With large hands, the Performance MX is top notch.
However, some of our traveling staff have the M505 and M705 and both are decent. The M705 has fantastic battery life, as indicated by the name, and actually does hold up to the abuse of travel quite well. Right now we've got 6 of them in the field and the only one that's been returned to me for replacement was one that the guy dropped his laptop and broke the receiver. Since they have the unifying receiver, I just sent him a spare receiver back with his mouse and he was good to go. |

But in response to which mouse to buy... you know the drill. The one that feels best in your hand. |

Looks like I'll need to take another trip to staples and play with them again. |

It was my Christmas gift from my girls last year, and it's been used every day since. Battery life is great, size is great. Wheel can be set as free wheel or click, buttons are programmable. Can't say enough good about it. |
