Ok I have looked every where and Can Find no information. There has got to be a way to fix this. When I plug it into my computer I get this error: One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfuctioned and Windows does not recognize it.
Now it worked fine when I bought it yesterday untill I Reset it to delete everything from the previous owner. I did that from the Ipod menu on it. Not through Itunes |

Sometimes it is an easy fix..
Laptop= Shut it down, remove the battery, unplug the power supply, wait 30 seconds, put it back together, boot and retry. Tower/Desktop= Shut it down, unplug the power supply, wait 30 seconds, plug it back in, boot and retry. Sounds silly but it works. |

Oh well, that works half the time. Try the link below, it is the next step. Good luck. http://forums.techarena.in/windows-xp-support/921348.htm |
| A new computer should work. The iPod/iPhone seems very good at becoming a brick. iTunes is a worthless POS that can't even update Apple devices without fucking them up. My last iPod bricked and the guys at the Apple store just plugged it into their laptop and did a restore on it. Happened again just a month ago but I was able to restore it myself. I did an update to my mom's iPhone through iTunes and it bricked. In every case the device was stuck in recovery mode. Fuck Apple. |

Uninstall then Reinstall ITunes. Don't plug in the ipod until the reinstall is complete. If you still get the same message about the USB malfunction, go into the device manager and check what the error code is for the device. This. But you may not even have to uninstall and reinstall. Check and see if you have the latest version of ITunes. If not, run the update and try again. |

If it is the IPad and not the computer then it won't matter which system they plug it into. So because I have worked on IPads\IPhones more then you that makes me Mr.Jobs? Since all of my company executives use IPhones and IPads and I am the company IPad\IPhone guru, I have worked on a few hundred. I am pretty sure that trumps your two times. |
holly hell you 2 . Well here is my AAR took it to bestbuy cause I dont have the stuff at my work to check it. It has a bad port. That is why it is not recognized. So off to ebay I go with a non working Ipod touch. Unless someone here knows how to fix the damn thing and would do it cheap...... Or free |
|
That'll work too. I'm sure that someone will disagree but I think the port might be flaky too. I started having problems with my old iPod Touch when connected to my truck stereo. The audio would crackle and fade in and out. I thought it was the USB port on the radio but when I got my new Touch it works just fine. I just hope it's not an indication that the new one will start to crap out too.

It would probably be uneconomical to fix since you would have to change out the entire mainboard just to replace the data port. Can you see any physical damage to the port? Bent pins, loose wafer board, etc? Do you remember doing anything to the port that would have damaged it? ![]() |
